Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that the critically acclaimed revival of Henrik Ibsen's AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes, is extending one week due to popular demand at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). Tickets for the production are now on sale through Sunday, November 18.
AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE features Boyd Gaines (The Columnist, Contact), Richard Thomas (Race, Fifth of July, "The Waltons"), Maïté Alina (Broadway debut), Gerry Bamman (The Merchant of Venice), Kathleen McNenny (Death of a Salesman), Randall Newsome (Inherit The Wind), John Procaccino (Blood and Gifts), Michael Siberry (Mrs. Warren's Profession), and James Waterston (Parents Evening). The ensemble also includes Mike Boland, Victoria Frings, Andrew Hovelson, John Robert Tillotson and Ray Virta.
This fall on Broadway, the political is about to get very personal. In this fast-paced, two-hour thriller, Dr. Thomas Stockmann (Boyd Gaines) discovers a toxic secret that threatens the health of his entire community. The doctor expects to be hailed as a hero, but his brother, Mayor Peter Stockmann (Richard Thomas), believes the information will destroy the town, forcing the men into a passionate confrontation of political will and personal ethics.
Four-time Tony winner Boyd Gaines (The Columnist, Contact) and Emmy winner Richard Thomas (Race, Fifth of July, "The Waltons") play the clashing brothers in this scintillating, and often surprisingly humorous, new version of Ibsen's AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE. Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt, The Royal Family, The Whipping Man,) returns to MTC to direct this bold new version by one of Britain's most exciting writers, Rebecca Lenkiewicz.
The creative team for AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE includes: John Lee Beatty (scenic design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), Ben Stanton (lighting design), David Van Tieghem (original music & sound design), J. David Brimmer (fight direction), and Tom Watson (hair & wig design).
Tickets for AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE are available by calling Telecharge at 212-239-6200, online by visiting www.Telecharge.com, or by visiting the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre Box Office (261 West 47th Street). Ticket prices are $67 – $120.
