David Greig's The American Pilot will receive its American premiere this fall at New York City Center as part of Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming 2006-2007 season.

Specific venue and additional details for The American Pilot will be named at a later date.

"In a rural village in a war-torn country, an American pilot crash-lands.  Should the villagers in the region help him, murder him or use him as a pawn in a dangerous game with the enemy? This powerful, topical and very human new play earned raves last year when produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company. This new production of The American Pilot will mark its eagerly anticipated American premiere," state press notes.

Grieg's other plays include: Europe, The Architect, The Speculator, Victoria, Outlying Islands, San Diego, When the Bulbul Stopped Singing, Pyrenees, The American Pilot and Tintin, as well as One Way Street, Airport, Timeless, Mainstream, Casanova, Lament and 8000 Miles for the theatre company Suspect Culture.  He is currently under commission to the Royal National Theatre, Out of Joint Theatre Company, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Young Vic.

"Under the leadership of Artistic Director Lynne Meadow and Executive Producer Barry Grove, MTC has become one of the country's most prominent and prestigious theatre companies. Renowned MTC productions include Shining City; Rabbit Hole; Doubt;  Proof;  The Tale of the Allergist's Wife; Yellowman; Kimberly Akimbo; Love! Valour! Compassion!; Sylvia; Four Dogs and a Bone; Putting It Together; Lips Together, Teeth Apart; Mass Appeal; Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune; Crimes of the Heart; and Ain't Misbehavin.'  In 2003, MTC reopened Broadway's landmark long neglected Biltmore Theatre, following a two-year, $35 million capital campaign."
