Mrs. Schrodinger's Cat, a new comedy written and directed by Tasha Nicole Partee, will be presented as part of the 20thAnnual New York International Fringe Festival starting Sunday August 14 at Teatro SEA at The Clemente. The cast includes Eileen Howard (Nunsense), Danielle Patsakos (The House of Bernarda Alba, N.Y.I.T nomination), Emily Gordon Fire (Twelfth Night), JC Sullivan (Sordid Lives), Madigan Mayberry (Little Shop of Horrors), Amelia Huckel-Bauer(Pychopathia Sexualis) and Emily Moody (Dog Sees God).
Living in a small town, Judith Shields, a curious and naïve aspiring writer in her 60s, attempts to make her livelihood by renting a part of her house to the three dissimilar and bickering Talbot sisters. Judith's daughter Rachel, a big city attorney who's visiting, expresses her disapproval of the sisters for getting away with paying a fraction of the rent. Across the street from them Myrna James, an isolated neighbor, is taping a self-revealing video for her husband as she prepares for a life apart from him and from the judgemental townspeople who look upon her as an outsider. Except for Judith, each woman is critical of the other for reasons of her own. They are shaken by news of a local art gallery's exhibit displaying anonymous photographs taken surreptitiously of people in their town. With the identity of the photographer and the subjects of the photos still unknown to them, the women's fear of potential humiliation leads them on a long summer night's journey to face the sad, funny and beautiful truth.
Based on the controversial 2013 New York photographic exhibit titled "The Neighbors", Mrs. Schrodinger's Cat raises questions about image, perception, entitlement and art, ultimately asking what it means to know a person and the extent to which we ever really can.
