The Jam, an innovative, soul revealing "play on words" jam session, woven together by original pieces written by Daniel J. Watts (Motown, In The Heights, Memphis, The Color Purple) will take place on Monday, September 9th at Canal Room located at 285 W. Broadway (just south of Canal St.).

"My great-grandmother used to make jam. What she couldn't eat herself, she would share with others. That is what The Jam is all about, sharing what I have with others." Equipped with a four-piece band and interactive vocalists, The Jam allows Watts to explore new boundaries within spoken word infusing different styles of music as well as dance. The show also features Derrick Baskin (Memphis, Spelling Bee, The Little Mermaid), Saycon Sengbloh (Motown, Fela!, Hair, The Color Purple, Wicked), Ephraim Sykes (Motown, Newsies), Nicholas Christopher (Motown), Grasan Kingsberry (Motown, Catch Me If You Can, Aida).

The Band includes music direction/piano by Wilkie Ferguson (Motown, Porgy 'n Bess), Voltaire Wade-Greene on bass, DeWitt Fleming, Jr. on drums, and Taharqa Patterson on guitar.

Doors open at 7:30pm with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are $20 for Adv. Standing Room Only, $30 for Adv. Reserved Seating (limited availability), $60 for Adv. Early Seating + complimentary drink ticket (seating beginning at 7:15), and $100 for VIP. Add $5 at the door.

Tickets can be purchased at www.wattswords.com or by calling 866.601.6730

Co-produced by David Korins, this is The Jam's second round at Canal Room after an astounding sold out performance with over 200 in attendance back in January. Running time is approximately 75 minutes.
