MORMON Understudies Gertner & Rouleau to Take Over for Departing Gad and Rannells

With oddly still no official word on who would be taking over as the new leads in the Tony-winning THE BOOK OF MORMON for departing stars (and former Tony nominees) Josh Gad (June 6) and Andrew Rannells (June 10), BWW reached out to a source in the production who confirmed that standby Jared Gertner would be taking over for Gad as Elder Cunningham and standby Nic Rouleau  will be taking over for Rannells as Elder Price.

MORMON is Rouleau's Broadway debut, with his previous credits including the National tour of Legally Blonde (Emmett), and regionally Floyd Collins(Homer), Les Misérables (Marius), ...Forum (Hero). He is a graduate of NYU Steinhardt.

Gertner's previous New York credits includine Spelling Bee (William Barfee); Ordinary Days (Roundabout); Don't Quit Your Night Job. THE BOOK OF MORMON, the winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, will perform live at the 2012 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10. The 66th Annual Tony Awards will air live on CBS, on Sunday, June 10th 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT time delay) and are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

THE BOOK OF MORMON is playing on Broadway at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street). THE BOOK OF MORMON launches its 1st National Tour in Denver at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on August 14. A Second Company of THE BOOK OF MORMON starts performances on December 11 at the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago.

THE BOOK OF MORMON is the winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score (Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, Matt Stone), Best Book (Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, Matt Stone), Best Direction (Casey Nicholaw, Trey Parker), Best Featured Actress (Nikki M. THE BOOK OF MORMON features set design by Scott Pask, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and sound design by Brian Ronan. Orchestrations are by Larry Hochman and Stephen Oremus. Music direction and vocal arrangements are by Stephen Oremus.
