MISS SAIGON at Göteborgsoperan

On September 27, 2025, the curtain rises on next year's big musical in Gothenburg: Miss Saigon.
In the main role of Kim we see Feline Andersson, who returns to the opera house after the smash hit as the green witch Elphaba in Wicked.
A limited number of tickets for Miss Saigon are already released today.
20 years have passed since the last one. Now it is once again time for one of the world's most played and loved musicals to take its place on Gothenburg Opera's big stage - now in a new version.
The story takes us to Saigon during the 1970s Vietnam War. Here we witness forbidden love between the American soldier Chris and the orphaned Vietnamese woman Kim who is forced to work at the bar of the Dreamland brothel. Chris and Kim's destinies intertwine in a way that challenges the boundaries of love and confronts the brutal reality of war. The chaos of war leads to heartbreaking drama in an ever-present story.

In the lead role as Kim, we see the musical star Feline Andersson, who floored both the audience and the press with her matchless interpretation of Elphaba in the Swedish premiere of Wicked at the Gothenburg Opera in 2023/2024. A breakthrough that was also her first leading role, and which is considered one of the most difficult and sought after in the musical world.
But for Feline Andersson, whose mother is from Thailand, the role of Kim is considerably larger:
- When I was 13, I saw Miss Saigon at Malmö Opera. It changed my life. It was the first time I saw a strong female role model of Asian origin. I had never seen anyone who looked like me on a stage. I thought "if she can do this, so can I, there is a place for me". I am so grateful that I am given the trust to do Kim and I hope that I can be an equally important person for someone in the audience in Gothenburg - that someone can see themselves in me, says Feline Andersson.
Miss Saigon is a musical by the legendary creators behind Les Misérables: Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil. Since its premiere in 1989, it has been seen by over 38 million people, worldwide. The plot of Miss Saigon is a modern interpretation of Puccini's classic opera Madame Butterfly.

This production, directed by Guy Unsworth, premiered at Folketeateret in Oslo in 2023 and is produced by Scenekvelder. The set was nominated for the Norwegian theater award Hedda in the category Best musical theater performance.
Premiere 27 September 2025. Presented in English, with Swedish and English subtitles.
A limited number of tickets go on sale today, Thursday 28 November 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at opera.se and at 11:30 a.m. at the box office. Tickets for the entire next playing year will be released in March 2025.
