MIRACLE WORKER, INISHMORE Producer Randall L. Wreghitt Dies from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Broadway and off Broadway producer Randall L. Wreghitt has passed away, according to his production company website. A message posted on the homepage reads: "Hello friends, our beloved Randall passed away early this morning. All arrangements are pending as of now and we will keep you posted."

Wreghitt died from a recent run in with carbon monoxide poisoning.

Most recently Randall produced MIRACLE WORKER (with Abigail Breslin), IMPRESSIONISM (with Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen), and the Broadway musical GREY GARDENS which was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show went on to win three Tonys.

He has also produced Martin McDonagh's LIEUTENTANT OF INISHMORE which was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Play and LITTLE WOMEN - THE MUSICAL starring Tony Winner Sutton Foster (Best Actress Tony nomination) and Maureen McGovern, as well as its national tour. Other Broadway productions include GOLDA'S BALCONY starring Tovah Feldshuh (Best Actress Tony nomination) and written by William Gibson; Mary Zimmerman's Tony Award winning METAMORPHOSES (three Tony nominations including Best Play); HEDDA GABLER starring Kate Burton (Best Actress Tony nomination); the Tony Award winning revival of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST starring Gary Sinese (two Tony nominations); McDonagh's THE LONESOME WEST (four Tony nominations including Best Play); McDonagh's four-time Tony Award winning play, THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE (six Tony nominations including Best Play); the acclaimed revival of ELECTRA starring Zoe Wanamaker (three Tony nominations including Best Revival) and the musical, BAND IN BERLIN. He was the Associate Producer of the Tony Award winning Broadway revival of Tom Stoppard's THE REAL THING.

Off Broadway productions include: THE WAVERLY GALLERY by Kenny Lonergan starring the legendary Eileen Heckert in the role that won her every major theater award (including the Tony, Drama Desk, Obie, Lortel, and Drama League). He also produced Douglas Carter Beane's hit comedy, AS BEES IN HONEY DROWN; Karen Trott's acclaimed one person musical, THE SPRINGHILL SINGING DISASTER; the hit revival of Mart Crowley's THE BOYS IN THE BAND; Nicky Silver's long running hit, THE FOOD CHAIN; Mark St. Germaine's award-winning comedy, CAMPING WITH HENRY AND TOM; and the Off Broadway cult hit musical, ZOMBIE PROM. He was the Associate Producer of Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play THREE TALL WOMEN.

On London's West End, he has produced Kenneth Lonnergan's THE LOBBY HERO and the revival of THE BOYS IN THE BAND. He also produced VELOCITY as part of the Edinburgh Theatre Festival in Scotland and CRUSH THE INFAMOUS THING, a new comedy, regionally in the United States. A TALE OF TWO PIZZAS is the first film he has produced and is currently available on DVD.

Randall is the recipient of the 1996 Robert Whitehead Award for "outstanding achievement in commercial theatrical producing" and heads Pro-Marketing, a marketing and promotions company that specializes in entertainment.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be sent to the Randall L. Wreghitt Memorial Fund c/o Ward Van Slyke Funeral home , 101 4th Street, Clear Lake IA, 50428. The funeral will be held in Iowa, Mr. Wreghitt's native state. A memorial service is being planned in the theatre district for a future date.
