Digital Theatre has just announced that the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's Olivier Award-winning revival of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods will be added to its paid Youtube channel, for a limited run, from Thursday 5 September. Today also sees Digital Theatre announce a global virtual screening of the production at 7.30pm BST on Friday 27 September across all of Digital Theatre's platforms.

Into the Woods joins ten other full-length shows available on Digital Theatre's paid channel, which makes the productions available as part of a monthly subscription for the first time. Watch highlights from the show below!

Other productions available in Digital Theatre's subscription catalogue include classic plays such as the sell-out West End revival of All My Sons, the 2013 Arts Desk Award-nominated Kafka's Monkey and Shakespeare such as As You Like It captured at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The YouTube paid channel is just one of Digital Theatre's expanding range of platforms, which includes apps for Samsung Smart TV, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, the new on-demand Digital Theatre Channel on the YouView TalkTalk Player and the Digital Theatre Desktop Player.

In keeping with theatre tradition, Into the Woods will only play a limited run on YouTube - available to Digital Theatre YouTube subscribers for six weeks to 14 October 2013 - however the production will remain available to buy or rent on the Digital Theatre website. Into the Woods, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine, takes the stories of The Brothers Grimm and gives them a dark and humorous twist. The popular tales of Red Ridinghood, Jack (of Beanstalk fame), Cinderella and Rapunzel are interwoven with that of the Baker and his Wife and their quest to have a child. However this re-telling goes beyond "happily ever after" as the familiar characters find themselves in unfamiliar circumstances and hopes and dreams are questioned and revisited.

Digital Theatre's first global virtual screening will take place at 7.30pm BST on Friday 27 September 2013 with audiences invited to watch the production at the same time across Digital Theatre's platforms. Audiences are invited to join the conversation on Twitter by following Digital Theatre (@digitaltheatre) and using the hashtag #IntoTheWoodsDT.

Featuring the voice of Dame Judi Dench as The Giant, co-directed by Timothy Sheader and Liam Steel and starring; Hannah Waddingham in the role of The Witch; Jenna Russell as the Baker's Wife; Michael Xavier as Wolf / Cinderella's Prince and Helen Dallimore as Cinderella.

Awards for Into the Woods include: Best Musical Revival, Olivier Awards 2011; Timothy Sheader, Best Director, Whatsonstage.com Awards 2011.

Launched in late 2009 by Robert Delamere and Tom Shaw, Digital Theatre works in partnership with Britain's leading theatre companies to capture live performance authentically onscreen. Using multiple camera angles and high-definition technology, they bring the drama and emotion of each production to a global online audience.

Each production is available to rent online for a limited period, download to your desktop, view with Samsung Smart TV or stream to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with our iOS app. Digital Theatre also recently launched an on-demand IPTV channel for TalkTalk TV Plus customers with YouView.
