MCC Theater will present the New York premiere of A Very Common Procedure by Courtney Baron. The play will be directed by Obie Award winner Michael Greif (Rent, Grey Gardens).

The show will begin performances January 31, 2007 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in the West Village. The limited engagement will run through March 10. Opening night is Valentine's Day. The cast and design team have yet to be announced.

A Very Common Procedure is "a hard-hitting yet humorous story of self-discovery as a husband, his wife, and her doctor take a crash course in the workings of the human heart:  Carolyn Goldenhersch begins an extra-marital affair with Dr. Anil Patel that takes them from Indian restaurants in Queens to Jewish delis on the Lower East Side.  Not an unusual New York story - until you find out how they met."
MCC is currently presenting the critically-acclaimed 10th anniversary production of Nixon's Nixon by Russell Lees, directed by Jim Simpson, and starring Gerry Bamman as Richard Nixon and Steve Mellor as Henry Kissinger. That show plays through October 28th.

A Very Common Procedure was originally presented in March 2006 under the title Morbidity & Mortality at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco in conjunction with The Women's Project in NYC.

The third and final play of the 2006-07 MCC season is the world premiere of In a Dark, Dark House by Neil LaBute, which will open in May of 2007.

The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located at 121 Christopher Street at Bedford, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets. Performance schedule, running time, and ticket prices to be announced.

Tickets will go on sale December 1, and will be available from TicketCentral.com or by calling (212) 279-4200.
