Manhattan Theatre Club has just announced that due to popular demand, the new Broadway production of Terrence McNally's Tony Award-winning MASTER CLASS, directed by Stephen Wadsworth has been extended a second time. The limited engagement has now been extended by two additional weeks with tickets now on sale through Sunday, September 4 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).
The production opened on Thursday, July 7 to acclaim from critics for Tyne Daly's performance as Maria Callas. Ben Brantley of The New York Times said, "She's remarkable. You can't take your eyes off of her," Mark Kennedy of the Associated Press called her performance "rip-roaringly funny," and WOR's Joan Hamburg said "Tyne Daly is magnificent! She took my breath away. I promise you are going to thank me when you get tickets." The play was hailed by Bloomberg News' Jeremy Gerard as "funny, reverential, and wholly engrossing," while calling Stephen Wadsworth's work "exquisite." Matt Windman of amNY said the cast is "charismatic" and The Daily News' Joe Dziemianowicz gave the production four stars and said the production features, "beautiful singing."
