MARRY ME A LITTLE Revival Album Now Available

The cast recording of the recent Off-Broadway revival of the two-person Stephen Sondheim musical revue MARRY ME A LITTLE is now available to purchase digitally according to a new listing.

Lauren Molina and Jason Tam starred in the inventively designed theatrical piece which presents a number of lesser-known songs by Stephen Sondheim as illustrations of two characters in a New York apartment building, exploring love, life, loss and a whole lot more while offering rich performance opportunities to talented singing actors such as Molina and Tam.

MARRY ME A LITTLE was originally conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman René in 1980 and presented Off-Off-Broadway before opening at the Actor's Playhouse Off-Broadway in 1981. The 2012 revival production was directed by Jonathan Silverstein and presented by the Keen Company Off-Broadway.

The official description of MARRY ME A LITTLE is as follows: "Weaving together several rarely-heard Sondheim songs, MARRY ME A LITTLE tells the charming and bittersweet tale of love, loneliness and survival of modern singles. Two strangers, left alone in their studio apartments on a Saturday night, pass their time with sweetly secret, shared fantasies, never knowing that they're just a floor away from each other and the end of their lonely dreams."

Of note, this album marks the premiere official recording of a song penned by Sondheim for the first version of the INTO THE WOODS movie, titled "Rainbows". Sondheim and I extensively discuss this obscure trunk song in both of our InDepth InterViews, available here and here.
