Eclectic dance music from Frevo to Calypso

Scott Kettner & Frank London put together their collective groups to bring you the hottest party north of Brazil. From the amphetamine party hyper frenetic dance beats of Frevo, the soundtrack to Pernambuco carnival, to the slinky, sensual, sexy working class dance music Forro, to the earth-breaking hip-shaking vibrations of Maracatú, the massive northeastern drumming style, all will be performed live by New York and Brazil's great musicians. Carnival - dress up and masquerade during the celebrations, overturn daily life, and celebrate ecstasy!

Grammy award winning composer, trumpeter and bandleader FRANK LONDON is a member of The Klezmatics, worked with John Zorn, Levon Helm, LL Cool J, Mel Tormé, Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy, They Might Be Giants, Jane Siberry, Ben Folds 5, Mark Ribot, Maurice El Medioni, Gal Costa, Michael Tilson Thomas, Itzhak Perlman and others. His album "Carnival Conspiracy" was #1 in Rolling Stone's Top 10 Non-English CDs of 2006.

SCOTT KETTNER follows the path of such Brazilian luminaries as Lenine and Chico Science, offering yet another anomalous contemporary interpretation of the traditional 19th century Pernambuco-born rhythms. Kettner has become the leading performer and teacher of Northeastern Brazilian music in NYC. His band Nation Beat played at Farm Aid with Willie Nelson and has toured the world.

Singer, percussionist, songwriter and Bahia native NANNY ASSIS, who has played with such artists as Vinicius Cantauria, Eumeir Deodato and John Patitucci, is a master of Brazilian Jazz, Afro-Brazilian music and other popular and folkloric sounds from his homeland. He started his career as a drummer and percussionist, but has developed into a brilliant multiform musician. Nanny Assis was awarded best percussionist by the Bahia Instrumental Festival.
