M. Lamar, Casey Legler & Vetch Poetry Journal Set for Lunchtime Readings at MX'D MESSAGES Festival

New York Live Arts' 2017 Live Ideas festival Mx'd Messages presents readings by M. Lamar, Casey Legler and Vetch Poetry Journal as part of its Lunchtime Reading series.

M. Lamar, a composer and multi-genre performance artist who works across opera, performance, video, sculpture and installation, presents his art book, Funeral Doom Spiritual published by RITA Books, Wednesday, March 15. The work of M. Lamar, twin brother of Laverne Cox, a star of Orange Is the New Black, has been presented at MoMa PS1, Merkin Hall and New Museum, among other venues.

Best known for being the first woman with a contract as a male Ford Model, Casey Legler , artist/activist and former Olympic swimmer, will read from her forthcoming memoir Godspeed published by Atria Books/Simon and Schuster, Thursday, March 16.

Vetch Poetry Journal, the first literary journal devoted to poetry by transgender writers, will host a poetry reading, Friday, March 17. Edited by poets and writers from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, the journal was praised by Corinne Segal for PBS News Hour stating, "The literary world reached a milestone this month with the debut of Vetch."

Events presented at the Lunchtime Reading series start at 1:00PM. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
