Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Michael Cerveris will continue to bake pies through Thanksgiving in the Broadway production of SWEENEY TODD, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Directed by Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winner John Doyle, SWEENEY TODD opened on Thursday, November 3, 2005, at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49 Street). It was nominated for six 2006 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, Lead Actress in a Musical for Patti LuPone and Lead Actor in a Musical for Michael Cerveris.

SWEENEY TODD features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Hugh Wheeler from an adaptation by Christopher Bond. The production is directed and designed by John Doyle, with music supervision and orchestrations by 2006 Tony Award winner Sarah Travis.

The ten member ensemble also includes: Mark Jacoby (Judge Turpin), Donna Lynne Champlin (Pirelli), 2006 Tony Nominee Manoel Felciano (Tobias), Alexander Gemignani (The Beadle), John Arbo (Jonas Fogg), Diana DiMarzio (Beggar Woman), Benjamin Magnuson (Anthony), Lauren Molina (Johanna).

This production of SWEENEY TODD, innovatively staged with 10 talented actor/musicians, won the Drama League, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Revival of a Musical and was awarded a Special Citation by the New York Drama Critics Circle. It arrived on Broadway from a highly successful London engagement originally staged by the Watermill Theatre, which transferred first to the Trafalgar Studios in London in July 2004 to wide critical acclaim, then into the West End where it ran for a limited engagement closing on February 5, 2005.

SWEENEY TODD is based on the 19th century legend of a London barber, who is driven to crime when a malevolent judge takes his wife and child from him. His plan for revenge includes a cutthroat partnership with Mrs. Lovett, an enterprising businesswomen, who is soon producing the tastiest meat pies in London.

The performance schedule is: Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday - Saturday at 8pm, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday at 2pm. Please note that there is no performance on Tuesday, July 4th. A performance has been added on Monday, July 3rd at 8pm.
