Always-interesting Palm Beaches painter and sculptor Norman Sunshine is causing a stir in the art and society worlds with his current exhibition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, "DAMES: Portraits by Norman Sunshine." On January 25th the artist will be the focus of an exclusive -- and sure to be fascinating -- luncheon and conversation at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, where he will be interviewed by Boca Raton Museum of Art executive director Irvin Lippman.
Tickets are now on sale for the luncheon, part of the "It's What You See" lecture series presented by the Cultural Council. Tickets are $125 each. Proceeds will support the Cultural Council's ongoing programs for artists and the local community.
Sunshine's work has been shown in galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Santa Fe and Connecticut. His sculpture can be viewed at The Society of the Four Arts sculpture garden in Palm Beach. He won an Emmy Award for television graphic design and title and co-authored the book, "Double Life: A Love Story from Broadway to Hollywood."
The "DAMES" exhibition's 25 enhanced digital portraits of notable women include images of several Palm Beach residents. The New York Social Diary observed the "surprisingly evocative impressionistic representations" of his subjects' poise, composure and self-assurance.
