Lulu Lloyd (School of Rock, Bright Star) and Monette McKay (Mamma Mia; Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark), and more set for Acting Out!'s "Broadway Stars, Brooklyn Kids" workshop.
Now in it's fourth year running, "Broadway Stars, Brooklyn Kids" brings Broadway talent to its studio in Brooklyn, allowing local students to learn from the very best. The week-long program will run August 8-12, with several Broadway performers teaching throughout the week. In addition to Lloyd and McKay, Douglas Lyons (Beautiful; The Book of Mormon) and Corey Mach (Hands On A Hard Body, Godspell), round out the teaching staff. Each teaching artist will instruct in rotation, offering an exciting variety to the five-day workshop. For many local students, this will be their first time interacting with Broadway professionals, allowing them to not only expand their education, but see that their performing dreams are truly possible. Children aged 9-17 are welcome, and no prerequisite is required.
Based out of Brooklyn, Acting Out! offers an extensive performing arts curriculum for students from kindergarten to college. Founders John Isgro and Roberta Loew bring professional level training to Brooklyn kids in their local neighborhood. With a staff made up entirely of working professionals, every child trained at Acting Out! is offered a unique opportunity to learn from those directly in the know.
