John Morse's exhibition "Einstein and Friends" will open at the Luise Ross Gallery today, May 2, with a reception to be held from 5 to 7 p.m.

For John Morse, collage is a liberation from the constraints of using realistic color. He manipulates found paper and fashions his imagery with colorful inventiveness.

In 1981 Morse started creating monumental portraiture from small bits of discarded paper. Roosevelt, Groucho and Einstein among others, continue to be giant personalities in Morse's hands, but now with a ripped twist. Over the years his colors have migrated from grisaille to bold and brash. Additional subject matters such as a rose, or the Earth from space, are given a unique vitality.

This will be John Morse's first one-man exhibition at Luise Ross Gallery. The exhibition runs through June 1, 2013.

Luise Ross Gallery is located at 511 West 25th Street #307, New York, NY. Call 212 343-2161, email lrossgallery@earthlink.net or visit www.luiserossgallery.com for more information.
