Luis Salgado and R.Evolución Latina (RL) are determined to continue making a difference in the lives of Latinos in 2018. Starting in January, with a trip to Puerto Rico (PR) bearing 30,000 toys to children, affected by Hurricane María, in conjunction with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Toys"R"Us, Telemundo, and Hispanic Federation. RL will be distributing 4,000 of those gifts among nine towns and over 20 barrios. Subsequently, they will continue their work in Puerto Rico, infiltrating the communities and impacting individuals on the ground.

"I believe in the mission of R.Evolución Latina, and I believe in Luis Salgado. What an extraordinary joy it is to witness what they bring to the world."

Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony Award winning Composer/Lyricist/Rapper/Actor

"It's an honor to see so many people go BEYOND to support our island. The amount of community leaders, volunteers and artists that are sharing their talents, efforts, time and more is inspiring to us all."

Luis Salgado, Actor and Executive Director of R.Evolución Latina

For the first five months of 2018, R.Evolución Latina and the Hispanic Federation, armed with a grant of $100,000, will employ local Puerto Rican artists to inspire and educate youth. Working with more than twenty adult artists, twelve theatre companies, stretching over eight different towns and four different schools, they will bring music, dance, and theatre programs to the children of Puerto Rico.

These children will also have the opportunity to attend the first annual Children's Performing Arts Camp in Puerto Rico. For the past 10 summers, 35-40 Broadway performers have donated their time to R.Evolución Latina, and worked with over 200 kids in a performing arts camp. This summer, in partnership with the Fundación Nacional in Puerto Rico, Puerto Rican children will be afforded the same opportunity as the New Yorkers. The camps will take place the second week in July in Puerto Rico and the first week in August in NYC.

"The camp provides these kids with a safe place to express themselves, to be vulnerable, to free." Rickey Tripp - D2GB teacher/Hamilton Cast member

"I learned that even though challenges seem impossible I am able to overcome those obstacles. I will Dare to Go BEYOND everyday by trying new things." - D2GB camper

R.Evolución Latina is a firm believer in The Circle Effect, a self-sustaining cycle by which individuals experience inspiring growth and in the process discover their ability to inspire others. To this vein, March and April focus on the professional development program which provides free training to Latino artists, from New York and around the world, through a series of class disciplines from voice to stage combat to ballet and much more. As a result of this program, a strong foundation of empowered artists are made aware of their full capabilities and upon completion, the artist then donates their time to RL for six months after the program, becoming a role model that will exponentially change the face of our community.

The adult programming culminates with a professional performance of a devised piece based on a Shakespeare Classic, to be performed at the Harlem School of the Arts during the first week of April. Performing Shakespeare's texts and using his unique language challenges the latino artists and enhances their fluency in their art and lives. Many of these artists are International Artists who come from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, entering NYC with a fear of the language.

R.Evolución Latina, is led by founder/director Luis Salgado and co-directors Denisse Ambert, Heather Hogan and Gabriela García. The non-profit organization runs six flagship programs for various ages and audiences such as a free summer camp for kids, workshops for adults artists in the disciplines of dance, voice and acting and Kids BEYOND Broadway.
