Patti LuPone and The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee stars Jared Gertner and Jenni Barber are among the nominees of the 2006 Independent Reviewers of New England's (IRNE) Awards.

Honoring achievement in Massachusetts theatre, the awards will be presented at the Boston Center for the Arts on March 19th.

LuPone was nominated for Best Solo Performance (Large) for The Lady with the Torch, while Gertner and Barber received respective nods as Best Actor and Best Actress in a Musical (Large) for the resident Boston production of Spelling Bee, which was also recognized with a nomination as Best Ensemble.

Other productions with multiple nominations included Huntington Theatre Company's production of Theresa Rebeck's Mauritius and August Wilson's Radio Golf, Trinity Rep's The Cherry Orchard and North Shore Music Theatre's Hairspray and Ain't Misbehavin.'  Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit, Twelve Angry Men, Wicked, Spamalot, Altar Boyz and The Importance of Being Earnest were nominated as Best Visiting Production.

Other performers to garner nominations included Anthony Chisholm (for Radio Golf), Jennifer Dundas (for The Taming of the Shrew), Marin Ireland (for Mauritius) and Jonathan Epstein (for Via Dolorosa and Othello).
