The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards for 2006 took place on Monday March 19, 2007, at the Boston Center Center for the Arts.

Among the winners were Patti LuPone for The Lady with a Torch (Solo Performance - Large), Anthony Chisholm, Marin Ireland and Boston Spelling Bee star Jared Gertner.  Among the productions receiving numerous awards was Theresa Rebeck's Mauritius (Best New Play - Large), staged by the Huntington Theatre Company; Mauritius beat Huntington's production of August Wilson's Radio Golf in that category .  North Shore Music Theatre's Hairspray won Best Musical (Large) and Twelve Angry Men won Best Visiting Production (Large).
