The Louis Armstrong House Museum presents its annual Jazzmobile Block Party on Thursday, August 21st from 4:00 pm - 8:30 pm featuring the Ray Mantilla Septet. This free event, hosted by Jazzmoblie, is the museum's grand finale to its Summer with Satchmo season!
The block party shuts down 107th Street in front of the museum. The party begins at 4:00 pm with a children's art-workshop presented by the Queens Museum and hula-hoop fun. The concert begins at 7:00 pm. The Louis Armstrong House Museum's Jazzmobile Block Party is the only Jazzmobile concert presented in Queens.
"The annual Jazzmobile Block Party at the Louis Armstrong House Museum is one of those fabulous 'only in New York' experiences," raves Michael Cogswell, Executive Director of the Louis Armstrong House Museum. "Where else can you hear Ray Mantilla, a legendary drummer and bandleader, play an intimate concert for neighborhood families, tourists, and jazz lovers, in front of Louis Armstrong's house? It's a memorable way to spend a summer evening, and it's totally free!" "Our Jazzmobile Block Party is a great opportunity for families to introduce their children to live jazz in a fun, carefree setting and for grown-ups to kick back and enjoy a beautiful summer evening," added Jennifer Walden Weprin Director of Marketing & External Affairs. "Bring your favorite lawn chair and join us."Videos
