Having grown up on theater stages, independent cinema sets and in front of the greatest photographers' camera lenses, Lou Doillon follows the commercial and critical success of her 2012 debut album, Places-which earned her a French Grammy for Female Artist of the Year and is certified double-platinum in France with over 300,000 copies sold worldwide-with Lay Low, out now on Verve. Doillon will play select U.S. tour dates this May in support of the album, as part of an extensive world tour-see below for dates! Her recent interview and performance on "CBS This Morning: Saturday" may also be viewed here.

Co-produced with Taylor Kirk, aka Timber Timbre, Lay Low realizes Doillon's vision of a more electric sound than she sought on Places. To achieve it, the two secluded themselves last winter in Montreal's Hotel2Tango and set to bringing the album's eleven tracks to life-culled from a collection of more than 30 songs written by Doillon. "I've always had a particular fondness for Canadian artists, from Leonard Cohen to Neil Young and Rufus Wainwright to Timber Timbre," Doillon says. "I also have a great affinity with the wide open spaces of Canada." Additional sessions took place in Paris and London with members of her stage band, and the finished album was mixed by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Arcade Fire).

By contrast, Doillon decided at the age of 30 to compose her debut LP, Places, alone in the solitude of her room with her acoustic guitar. Produced and arranged by singer-songwriter-producer Étienne Daho (Air, Marianne Faithfull, Saint Etienne), that album went on to become one of France's greatest successes of 2012, with more than 300,000 copies sold worldwide, double-platinum certification in France, a Victoire de la Musique award for Female Artist of the Year and extensive international touring that saw her and her band playing clubs and festival stages around the world.
