Los Angeles
Award winning artist, Peter Walker, will exhibit a dozen, large-scaled pencil on paper, figurative drawings. The solo exhibition, "Their Space," will run from June 27 to July 24 at The Los Angeles Art Association's Gallery 825.
"Their Space" explores momentary associations with people on the periphery that quickly come and just as quickly dissolve. Like the interaction of atoms, they are transitory, brief and constantly reshuffled. Walker looks for people and situations on the edges to make the unfamiliar, familiar and to document the random encounter. To highlight the associations all indication of environment is stripped away and the figures float on a bed of negative space inviting the viewer to supply their own context. People on the periphery may never be seen again but they largely constitute the modern experience and Walker wants them to be remembered.
The gallery opening reception at Gallery 825 is on June 27 from 6-9pm at 825 N La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90069. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm. For more information on Gallery 825, contact (310) 652-8272.
