While some would argue that it's not necessary to have a guest with you when reviewing a performance, theatre critics are traditionally offered two press comps when attending a show.

That tradition will soon be a thing of the past for one very high-profile venue. Camilla Turner of The Telegraph reports that Great Britain's National Theatre recently sent press invitations to the London critics for its upcoming production of THE THREEPENNY OPERA that read at the bottom, "In some cases, it may be possible to buy a second ticket. If you would like to bring a guest, do let us know."

There had been no previous notification that the practice of offering two free seats had been discontinued.
