The upcoming London revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music has changed its opening date.
Originally scheduled to begin previews on November 4th and open on November 14th, it will now begin previews on November 3rd and open on November 15th.
Connie Fisher, who after winning the reality show talent search "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria," will star in the revival. As previously, announced she will play eight performances a week. Jeremy Sams (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) directs and Andrew Lloyd Webber (who was a judge on "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria") produces. The revival will also star Simon Shepherd as Captain von Trapp and opera star Lesley Garrett as the Mother Abbess.
The Sound of Music, which concerns a plucky young governess who becomes the matriarch of the von Trapp family, features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics and book by Oscar Hammerstein II. Partially due to the reality show furor and to the enduring popularity of The Sound of Music, the London revival has so far racked up £6million in advance sales.
