PEOPLE reports that Tony Award winning actress Liza Minnelli, who recently entered a rehab facility for substance abuse, is doing well and is ready to jump back into her busy career.
A source close to the the 69-year-old star, who has struggled with substance abuse issues throughout her acclaimed career,
tells the site, "Liza is doing very well in rehab and coming along fine." They add that she is "So eager to get out and go back to work, she is busy arranging her next projects."
Her spokesperson,
Scott Gorenstein commented, "It's no secret she has dealt with this for years. And when she felt the need to seek help again, she did." Another longtime friend tells
PEOPLE, "Liza is a survivor. She is a champ."
Among Minnelli's upcoming projects are several concert and charity events. The actress, who won the Academy Award for "Cabaret," was recently named the recipient of the 2015 JACK VALENTI - LOS ANGELES, ITALIA LEGEND AWARD.
