The New York Musical Theatre Festival, in association with HJS Productions, will present the New York premiere of Little Egypt, a new musical with book by Lynn Siefert, with music and lyrics by Gregg Lee Henry, directed by Lisa James, as part of the 4th Annual NY Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). Performances will run September 27 through October 5 only.
"The first act takes us to the beginning of 'happily ever after,' complete with a misfit knight and a geeky damsel. The second act shows the all too human and darker side of heroism: the moving sacrifice of family, and the redemption that love, once tested, can bring. Though often side-splittingly funny, this is not strictly a comedy; also deeply moving and at times tragic, yet not strictly a tragedy. Rather, it is a bit like life: the full ride, both funny and sad, and when you least expect it, magical," state press notes.
Lisa James directs a cast that features Lisa Akey, Gregg Henry, Jenny O'Hara, Sara Rue, Raphael Sbarge, and Lee Wilkof. Little Egypt's design team includes set designer Lex Liang, costume designer Vicki Sanchez, lighting designer Brian Gale and sound designer Duncan Cutler. Robert Martin will serve as Musical Director.
Performances will be Thursday, September 27 at 8PM, Friday, September 28 at 1PM, Saturday, September 29 at 8PM, Sunday, September 30 at 4:30PM, Wednesday, October 3 at 8PM, and Friday, October 5 at 4:30PM at The Acorn Theatre (410 West 42nd Street, between Ninth and Avenues). Single tickets to Little Egypt are available through Theatermania.com at 212-352-3101 or (toll free) 866-811-4111. For additional information, visit NYMF's web site at www.nymf.org

Hailed as "the Sundance of Musical Theatre," NYMF is widely regarded as the premier source for new material and talent discovery. NYMF's 2004 hit Altar Boyz is now enjoying its third year Off-Broadway at New World Stages.
