The paths of Broadway rockers Ryan Link and Jeremy Kushnier will cross once again when they play Jesus and Judas, respectively, in the Kansas City Starlight Theatre's production of Jesus Christ Superstar from July 11th to 17th.

Link and Kushnier have worked together on more than one occasion--Link was Kushnier's standby for Radames in the national tour of Aida, and both participated in a staged reading of Marcus Hummon's off-Broadway-bound "country/world concert play," American Duet. In addition, both have played Roger in the Broadway production of Rent.

Separately, Kushnier originated the role of Ren in Broadway's Footloose. "He in the process of recording a second album of rootsy original rock. His first release, "In Time", is available online," according to production notes. Link has appeared regionally in I Want My '80s Musical and The Winter's Tale. "He will perform his own soulful power-pop songs in a solo acoustic setting at Rockwood Music Hall (196 Allen Street, LES) this Friday night, June 24, at 9 PM." He is currently assembling a band and writing material for his debut solo album. His self-titled CD, which he recorded with his former band, Miss Fortunes, is available at cdbaby.com.

Jesus Christ Superstar, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, is the groundbreaking rock opera about Jesus' life in the seven days before the crucifixion. It opened on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Theatre on October 12th, 1971 to run for 711 performances, as well as earning five Tony nominations, including Best Original Score and Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Ben Vereen.

Built in 1951, the Starlight is a large outdoor amphitheatre in Kansas City's Swope Park, with a capacity of 7700 seats. Tickets for JCS are available at kcstarlight.com.
