New York City, New York - Murray Hill Institute in partnership with the New York Philharmonic, New York Women Composers, Inc., Asociación de Mujeres en la Música of Spain and Young Women Social Entrepreneurs are proud to present the initiative Women in Music/Mujeres en Música in concert. The event showcases music composed by women from the United States and Spain based on William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.

This is the second part of a two-part concert series, the first of which took place at the International Institute in Madrid (Spain) this past May and was received to wide audience and critical acclaim. The concert will feature two young female composers from the New York Philharmonic´s Very Young Composers program, so the event supports not only women but also young girls empowerment in the area of classical music composition.

Mezzo-soprano Anna Tonna and pianist Isabel Pérez Dobarro were awarded in 2016 by the New York Women Composers Inc., a Seed Money Grant for this initiative for its vision to increase women composers visibility worldwide. They will be joined on stage by mezzo-soprano Nan-Maro Babakhanian, and the ensemble 2Flutes, composed of flutists Pamela Sklar and Laura Falzon. The program will feature several New York and North American premieres that were specifically commissioned for this initiative.
