Lincoln Center Education (LCE) has a longstanding tradition of working with professional artists interested in seeing where and how arts education fits into their work.
Furthering this mission, LCE created an Artist Fellowship for the years 2012 through 2016. It was an invaluable experience for both the Fellows and the organization. They found an opportunity at LCE to develop their capacity in arts education, and explore how it would have an impact on their future work.
Additionally, each Fellow was challenged to co-design a special project, which incorporated high-school students from an LCE participating school or community-based organization.
As a result of the experience, Lincoln Center Education is sharing the Artist Fellowship Toolkit, a resource guide to encourage other performing arts organizations to design their own program.
The Toolkit outlines LCE's residency framework and provides recommendations and tips for selecting resident artists, welcoming them as colleagues in your organization, and developing benchmarks for residency activity to support the development of teaching artistry and artistic vision.
Please download, read, and freely share this rich and detailed document with presenters, educators, and arts professionals alike. It is LCE's hope that your organization will be inspired to create a fellowship of its own.
The LCE Artist Fellowship was made possible with the generous support of Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
