Lincoln, NE Art & Soul, is taking a new step forward by converting their frame shop into a fine art Gallery, focusing solely on rare, historical and culturally significant artwork. The gallery will continue to host shows for local artists, with a mission of bringing awareness to new and up and coming artists, who may otherwise go unnoticed by more main stream gallery exhibits.
Anthony Slattery of Art & Soul had this to say, "We are proud to join the list of superb art galleries in Lincoln, and are eager to share truly extraordinary works of art with the community."
Art & Soul's first gallery opening is a celebration of the North American Indian. "When the Woods are Rustled by the Wind: Photographs from the early 20th Century" will feature original photographs produced by world-renowned artists such as Edward S. Curtis and Adam Clark Vroman. The photographers' humanistic approach showcases the vast and unique spiritual traditions that differ from one native tribe to the next with a vision of preserving a disappearing culture.
The exhibit begins February 21st and goes through March 21st. An opening reception will be held during Art & Soul's "Third Thursday" held on February 21st from 6-9 p.m. The musical guest for the evening will be McCarthy Trenching. Food and drink specials will also be offered during the event.
Art & Soul is a unique store, offering a variety of services including art and cooking classes, a café lunch and coffee shop with expanded menu, catering services and gift shop, to highlight a few. Art & Soul is located on the southeast corner of 56th and Pine Lake Road in Lincoln. To learn more about Art & Soul, visit their website at http://www.lincolnartandsoul.com.
