Lin-Manuel Miranda's MODERN FAMILY Episode Set to Air 5/11

Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to guest star on ABC's hit comedy 'Modern Family.' Miranda will star as a dog trainer who helps out Gloria, played by Sofia Vergara. BroadwayWorld has learned that the episode featuring Miranda will air Wednesday, May 11th at 9 PM.

Miranda is most famous for writing and starring as Usnavi in the Broadway musical In the Heights, which opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2008 and for which he won the Tony Award as composer and lyricist. He also wrote Spanish language dialogue and worked with Stephen Sondheim to translate into Spanish song lyrics for the revival of West Side Story, which opened on Broadway in March 2009. He is currently working on a musical theatre version of Bring It On, based on the 2000 cheerleader comedy film of the same name.Modern Family is an award-winning American comedy television series. The half-hour series, which was created by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan, is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and largely presented in a mockumentary style.

The story follows the families of Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill), his daughter Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen), and his son Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) who live in a Los Angeles-area suburban community. Claire is a homemaker mom married to Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell); they have three children. After splitting with his longtime wife, Jay has re-married with a much younger Colombian woman, Gloria Pritchett (Sofía Vergara), and is helping her raise her pre-teen son, Manny Delgado (Rico Rodriguez). Mitchell and his partner Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) have adopted a Vietnamese baby, Lily Pritchett-Tucker.
