Lin-Manuel Miranda and More Take Home 2022 Audio Publishers Association Audie Awards

Tonight, the Audio Publishers Association announced the winners of the 2022 Audie Awards, the premier awards program recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment.
Among the winners this year is acclaimed composer, actor, and director Lin-Manuel Miranda, who took home Best Male Narrator for his narration of the audiobook Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Sáenz.
Hosted by actor, author, producer, and former Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Kal Penn, the ceremony was held virtually honoring finalists across 25 competitive categories. Project Hail Mary written by Andy Weir, narrated by Ray Porter, and published by Audible Studios received the night's top honor, Audiobook of the Year. Be Dazzled written by Ryan La Sala, narrated by Pete Cross, and published by Dreamscape Media won the Young Adult Audie Award. Full list of winners below.
Special guest judges Gigi Gorgeous (critically acclaimed author, LGBTQ+ activist, and co-host of the hit podcast Queerified with Gigi Gorgeous and Mimi), Caitlyn Paxson (writer and book reviewer for NPR), and Anthony Allen Ramos (Executive Producer of the GLAAD Media Awards and official Entertainment Correspondent) judged the Young Adult category; Kristen Arnett (New York Times bestselling author), Gayle Forman (award-winning author and journalist), and Seija Rankin (Senior Books Editor at Entertainment Weekly) judged the Audiobook of the Year category.
"The audio of Project Hail Mary did exactly what I want an audiobook to do, which is to use the medium to expand the story," said Forman regarding the Audiobook of the Year recipient. She went on to add, "If this Sci-Fi book could make a fan out of me, a lover of contemporary realistic fiction, it could definitely win over any first-time audio listeners."
In response to Young Adult winner, Be Dazzled, Gorgeous stated: "The narration of this audiobook wonderfully complements the author's intent through the enthusiastic and genuine performance by the narrator. It allows the listener to sympathize with the emotional ups and downs that the characters are feeling, as if you're inside their heads and seeing the world around them. Many of our LGBTQ youth today experience these exact same feelings, turmoils, and joys, which makes this a refreshing and inspiring story to be able to listen to."
