Last night in Philadelphia, Hillary Clinton made history as the first female candidate to officially win and accept the nomination for President of the United States at the conclusion of the Democratic National Convention.

As BWW reported, Ms. Clinton is a huge fan of the Tony Award winning show Hamilton. On July 12th, Ms. Clinton attended a fundraising event at a special performance of the hit musical at which the show's star and creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda endorsed the candidate.

Last night the mutual respect continued as Clinton quoted lyrics from Hamilton, telling the energized crowd of delegates, "though we may not live to see the glory, as the song from the musical Hamilton goes, let us gladly join the fight." Later on she invoked another theme of the show, exclaiming "Let our legacy be about planting seeds in a garden you never get to see. That's why we're here, not just in this hall, but on this Earth. The Founders showed us that. And so have many others since." (Watch Ms. Clinton's speech in full HERE)

Following the moving acceptance speech, Miranda turned to Twitter to share his delight in Hillary's words, and even joked about her fondness for the Grammy Award winning cast recording. Check out the post below:

Miranda's original music will be featured in Disney's upcoming animated film MOANA. The actor left the Broadway musical earlier this month to pursue new projects, including a remake of the Disney classic MARY POPPINS opposite Emily Blunt.
