London's Tristan Bates Theatre has announced that a musical from HAMILTON creator Lin-Manuel Miranda will have its European debut as part of the theatre's From Page to Stage Showcase. The project offers audiences the opportunity to see four distinctively different pieces in one evening.
Titled 21 CHUMP STREET, the show is a 14-minute musical based on a true story as reported in the series 'This American Life'. It is described as a cautionary tale of a high school honors student who falls for a cute transfer girl. He goes to great lengths to oblige her request for marijuana in the hopes of winning her affection - only to find out that his crush is actually an undercover cop planted in the school to find drug dealers.
The show is scheduled to be performed on November 12 and 19 at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM and November 16-18 at 7:30 PM. The other three shows selected to participate are Tim Connor's "Heart of Winter", Grant Black, Murray Lachlan and Elliot Davis' "Rehab" and Leon Parris' "Bananaman the Musical."
