"Life is a Cabaret" -- A Benefit for Urban Stages at the Central Park Boathouse

Urban Stages, a not-for-profit Off-Broadway theatre will hold their 24th annual benefit on Monday, May 12th at the Boathouse in Central Park.  Urban Stages is honoring Broadway actor Jim Naughton, international artist Edwina Sandys and international cabaret star Julie Wilson.  Benefit Chairpersons are Angela Casciato, Managing Director, Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Credit Suisse; and Stanley Zareff, Vice President Corporate Communications at Credit Suisse. He is also a member of Urban Stages' Board of Directors. Credit Suisse is the sponsor of the evening.  Funds from the benefit help support Urban Stages' aver 400 outreach programs bring theatre arts to libraries in the five boroughs and Harlem Day Charter School.

"Life is a Cabaret" will be an evening of boat rides on the lake, cabaret entertainment, cocktails and Classic American cuisine.  There will be a live auction with Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby's as the auctioneer.  Actress/singer Sarah Chalfy from Urban Stages musical 27 Rue de Fleurus will sing cabaret songs accompanied by the music of John Korba's band.

Cocktails at 7:00, seated dinner at 8:30 tickets range from $350 to $6,000 to raise money for the Urban Stages Outreach Program in the public schools and libraries throughout New York City, includes cocktails, dinner, entertainment, live auction and dancing.  To order, call (212) 421-1380.


Established in1983, Urban Stages' mission is to develop and produce new plays by authors of diverse cultural backgrounds and to bring new voices to stages in libraries and schools.  The world premiere production of Bulrusher by Eisa Davis was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2007. This season The Oxford Roof Climber's Rebellion, The Blue Bird, and the new musical 27 Rue de Fleurus produced by Urban Stages received excellent acclaim from audiences and reviewers.   Urban Stages Summer Theatre Camp will be in full swing for ages 10 to 14 in July and August.
