For the second year in a row, Lexus of Portland has underwritten a portion of the Ogunquit Playhouse’s season of Broadway at the Beach. Now in its second year, the relationship between the luxury car dealership and the non-profit theatre has proved to be an excellent match, providing financial support for the historic Playhouse, while offering benefits for Lexus owners, including coveted VIP parking at the Playhouse.
One of the few remaining professional theatres of its kind, the Ogunquit Playhouse produces the best in live theatre, with the biggest shows and brightest stars from Broadway and Hollywood appearing on its historic stage. While many other theatres have closed their doors in recent years, the Playhouse has successfully made the transition from a summer-stock 10-week season to a regional theatre running 21 weeks. However, as nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, the Playhouse faces a myriad of challenges, including keeping ticket prices affordable while still producing the highest caliber productions for the public. Partnering with the business community is crucial to this goal and to the continued success of the Playhouse. “Simply, the price of a ticket does not come close to what is the actual cost for someone to sit in a seat in this historic building and watch a show. So, we must expand not only funding, but also programs that enrich the Playhouse and our community. We all want the Playhouse to be here 100 years from now!” says Brad Kenney, “We are grateful to Lexus of Portland for their ongoing support.”For more information please visit www.ogunquitplayhouse.org
