Jewel, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth and Vanessa Williams have surprised attendees over the past five years as part of the annual "An Evening of Unexpected Delights" fundraiser benefiting The Journey Home, Baltimore City's plan to make homelessness rare and brief.
For the event's sixth year, there is no more guessing. The organization has let the cat out of the bag, announcing The Roots will take the stage with special guest, Tony Award-winner Leslie Odom, Jr. of "Hamilton" on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric.
"This event will help to raise awareness and critical funds in our effort address homelessness in our city," said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. "We need the entire community to come together to solve this serious problem." The format for the event, known for its exciting surprises, has also changed this year. While guests should still expect the unexpected, the new venue allows for a concert-focused event with more emphasis on the artists' performances. Tickets range from $40 to $175 and are available beginning September 9th through Ticketmaster. A limited number of VIP tickets include premium concert seating and access to an exclusive after party featuring DJ Alvaro, a cocktail lounge setting with open bar and late night munchies, and complimentary parking. Individual VIP tickets can be purchased for $175 or blocks of 10 tickets and are being sold for $1,600 through www.journeyhomebaltimore.org.IF YOU GO:
