The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) in association with Edward Negley, Neil Berg and Adam Friedson, has announced a new addition to one of the best reviewed Off-Broadway shows of the year, Closer Than Ever with Lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Music by David Shire: Broadway veteran Leslie Kritzer (A Catered Affair, Sondheim on Sondheim, Legally Blonde, The Musical) beginning August 28, 2012. Ms. Kritzer will step in for Julia Murney who departs the cast on August 25th.
With direction by Mr. Maltby, associate direction and choreography by Kurt Stamm and music direction by Andrew Gerle, the cast also features Jacquelyn Piro Donovan (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables), George Dvorsky (The Scarlet Pimpernel) and Sal Viviano (The Full Monty). Now in performance through September 30th at The York Theatre at Saint Peter’s (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Closer Than Ever plays the following performance schedule through September 1: Mondays & Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays at 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. & 8:00 p.m.
Beginning September 4: The performance schedule will change to Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. & 8:00 p.m, and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Leslie Kritzer recently starred in the Kander/Ebb revue First You Dream at the Kennedy Center and A Letter To Harvey Milk at NYMF (Best Individual Performance Award). Broadway credits include Sondheim On Sondheim, A Catered Affair (Drama Desk Nomination), Legally Blonde (Clerence Derwent Award for Most Promising Performer) and Hairspray. She received critical acclaim and a Time Out New York award for her sold-out Joe's Pub run of Leslie Kritzer Is Patti LuPone At Les Mouches (a performance she repeated at The Plush Room in San Francisco). Off-Broadway and regional credits include Newsical, Every Tongue Confess (Arena Stage), Memory Show (Barrington Stage Company), Rooms (Outer Critic Circle Nomination), On The Town (Encores!), The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Drama Desk Nomination), Bat Boy, Godspell, Pop!, Three Generations (Kennedy Center), Cabaret, Born Yesterday, the world premiere of Vanities, Urinetown (National Tour), Evita and an acclaimed “Fanny Brice” in Funny Girl.
