The producers of Doubt announced today that Adriane Lenox, who won a 2005 Tony Award for her performance as Mrs. Muller, will recreate her award-winning performance in the first three cities on tour: Los Angeles (Ahmanson Theatre, September 22 – October 29), San Diego (Civic Theatre, October 31 – November 5) and San Francisco (November 7 – December 3).

Lenox will appear alongside Cherry Jones, who also won a Tony Award for her performance in the play. Chris McGarry (Doubt Broadway standby, Salome), as Father Flynn, and Lisa Joyce (Red Light Winter), as Sister James, round out the cast.

Lenox received the Tony Award, the Drama Desk Award, and the Lucille Lortel Award for her portrayal of Mrs. Muller in John Patrick Shanley's Doubt. She has appeared on Broadway in Ain't Misbehavin'; Dreamgirls; How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; and Kiss Me, Kate, among others. She also won Obie and Audelco Awards for multiple-character performance in Dinah Was. Off-Broadway, she has been seen in Miss Evers Boys, Cavedweller, Spunk, Susan Lori Parks' The America Play and The Venus Hottentot, Beehive, and others. TV appearances include "Law & Order" (original and "SVU") and "Third Watch." She has worked regionally at such theatres as Arena Stage, receiving the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for their production of On the Town, as well as at Berkeley Rep, Yale Rep, the Mark Taper Forum, The Long Wharf Theatre, and The ALLIANCE THEATRE.

Doubt, by John Patrick Shanley, is the winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play, and the 2005 Pulitzer Prize, as well as the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, Lortel and Obie Awards as Best Play.

The national tour is directed by Doug Hughes, who won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Direction.  "Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?," state press notes.

Set design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design is by Catherine Zuber, lighting design is by Pat Collins, and original music and sound design is by David Van Tieghem. The tour will be produced by Carole Shorenstein Hays, MTC Productions Inc. (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer), Roger Berlind and Scott Rudin.

Doubt launches its 24-city national tour at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles on September 22, 2006.  The tour is being booked by The Road Company.
