For three very special performances only, 54 Below is delighted to welcome a gentleman who can only be described as Broadway royalty. New York knows him not only for his Tony winning role as the original Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Sweeney Todd), but from his memorable performances in Applause, A Little Night Music and Dance a Little Closer among others. Film and television audiences have embraced him in dozens of roles, ranging from "The Four Seasons," "About Schmidt," "Into the Storm," "Damages" and his current role as Henry Reagan in "Blue Bloods." Broadway legend Leslie Uggams makes her 54 Below debut forseven special performances only! Best known for her Tony Award-winning role in Hallelujah, Baby!, as well as the groundbreaking miniseries, Roots, Ms. Uggams’ storied career has spanned television (her own CBS variety show), film (Skyjacked) and Broadway (Her First Roman, Blues in the Night, Jerry’s Girls, Anything Goes, King Headley II, Thoroughly Modern Millie, On Golden Pond). Barbara Carroll, Nov. 18 at 1PM:
54 Below is honored to welcome jazz legend Barbara Carroll to our stage for a series of seven exciting jazz brunches. In 1947, Leonard Feather dubber her “the first girl ever to play bebop piano.” In a career that has spanned more than half a century (she played her first New York engagement opposite Dizzy Gillespie’s big band at the Downbeat Club in 1947), Ms. Carroll is an elegant jazz pianist, composer and vocalist, long recognized as one of the premier players of swinging jazz piano. Her inventive piano playing and totally unique vocal sound leads her into transforming any composition into her own art with her trademark emotional directness and respect for the tune, its lyrics and its many possibilities. Samia Najimy FINNERTY, Nov. 18 at 5:30PM:
One of New York’s newest and most exciting new singer/songwriters, 15 year old Samia Najimy Finnerty brings her unique brand of musical prowess to 54 Below for one special performance only. Look for duets with Broadway’s own Kristin Chenoweth, Kevin Chamberlin and Susie Mosher, plus a special guest or two! Elizabeth Stanley burst onto the Broadway stage when she re-created the role of April in the 2006 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company. Since then, she’s delighted Broadway audiences in Cry-Baby and Million Dollar Quartet, and her critically-heralded performances off Broadway include The Transport Group’s Hello, Again and the recent Encores! production of Merrily We Roll Along.
