Legally Blonde Cast Album to be Released July 17

Ghostlight Records, a division of Sh-K-Boom Records, will release the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Legally Blonde on Tuesday, July 17, 2007.  With music and lyrics by both Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach, this musical is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell and will have its Broadway premiere at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway, between 46th & 47th Streets) on April 29, 2007.  Previews began on April 3, 2007. 

Recorded on May 7 and 8, 2007, the CD is produced by Grammy and Oscar winner Joel Moss, Sh-K-Boom / Ghostlight Records President Kurt Deutsch, composers/lyricists Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and Executive Produced by Kurt Deutsch and Bill Rosenfield.

Blake as Warner, Kate Shindle as Vivienne, Nikki Snelson as Brooke and Michael Rupert as Professor Callahan with music direction by James Sampliner, scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller, orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke and sound design by ACME Sound Partners.  

Legally Blonde was nominated for 7 Tony Awards including Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical (Laura Bell Bundy), Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical (Christian Borle), Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical (Orfeh), Best Choreography (Jerry Mitchell) and Best Costume Design of a Musical (Gregg Barnes); and 10 Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Laura Bell Bundy), Outstanding Featured Actor In A Musical (Christian Borle), Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (Orfeh), Outstanding Director of a Musical (Jerry Mitchell), Outstanding Choreography (Jerry Mitchell), Outstanding Music (Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin), Outstanding Lyrics Music (Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin), Outstanding Book of a Musical (Heather Hach) and Outstanding Set Design of a Musical (David Rockwell).
