Casting has been announced for the Off-Broadway premiere of Daisy Foote's new drama Bhutan, directed by Evan Yionoulis (The Violet Hour).  It will be presented by the Cherry Lane Theatre, in association with New York Stage and Film.

Performances begin Thursday, October 19th; the show will open Sunday, October 29th and close on December 9th (no performance October 31st) at the Cherry Lane Theatre on the newly renovated Mainstage (located at 38 Commerce Street off of 7th Ave.).

Bhutan "follows a New England family's ups and downs after the death of their father. Frances Conroy wonders how she ended up here. Her mother is driving her crazy. Her aunt is stalking a married man. Her brother is in prison. She dreams of Bhutan but can barely find the kitchen door," according to press notes on the play, which is by the author of God's Pictures, Farley and Betsy, The Hand of God and other plays.

The cast will include Tasha Lawrence (The Pavilion, Proof national tour), Sarah Lord (The Fifth of July at Signature Theatre), Amy Redford (films such as Maid in Manhattan, plays such as The Shape of Things), and Jedadiah Schultz (who is featured as a character in Moises Kaufman's The Laramie Project).

The creative team will include set designer Laura Hyman, costumes designer Rebecca J. Bernstein, lighting designer Pat Dignan, and sound designer Bart Fasbender.

"A landmark in Greenwich Village's cultural landscape, Cherry Lane Theatre serves as a vital lab for the development of new American works and the cultivation of a diverse, multigenerational audience. Our focus is the playwright as central to the dramatic event and the text as intrinsic to theatrical innovation and excellence. Indeed, as New York's oldest, continuously running Off-Broadway theater, the Cherry Lane has helped to define American drama, fostering quality theater that is daring and relevant, for 80 years," according to press notes.

Originally developed during the 2005-2006 Cherry Lane Studio season as part of Celebrating Women Playwrights Program, The Cherry Lane Theatre also presented Bhutan in association with New York Stage and Film at the Powerhouse Theatre during the summer of 2006.

Performances run Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays at 11 AM and 8 PM, Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 3 and 8 PM. Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM are $50 and all other performances are $45. Student Tickets with a Valid I.D are $10. Tickets can be purchased by calling Telecharge at 212.239.6200 or by going to www.telecharge.com
