The White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC) has announced the cast of the New York Regional Premiere of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY by Tracy Letts.
A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunited after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a major new play that unflinchingly – an uproariously – exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.
“In Tracy Lett’s ferociously entertaining play, the American dysfunctional family dram comes roaring into the twenty-first century with eyes blazing, nostrils flaring and fangs bared, laced with corrosive humor so darkly delicious and ghastly that you’re squirming in your seat even as you’re doubled-over laughing.” Variety
The Weston family clan consists of Laura Cable (Karen Weston), Eileen Glenn (Mattie Fay Aiken), Emily Kaplan (Jean Fordham), Suzy Kimball (Ivy Weston), Elyse Knight (Barbara Fordham), Mark Lanham (Bill Fordham), Daniel Mian (Little Charlie Aiken), Peter McClung (Charlie Aiken), Dick Nagle (Beverly Weston) and Robin Lilly as Violet Weston. Completing the cast are Derek RoBert Smith (Steve Heidebrecht), Arthur Wise (Sheriff Deon Gilbeau), Amanda Yachechak (Johnna Monevata). Directed by Jeremy Quinn, WPPAC's Producing Artistic Director whose notable directing credits at WPPAC include: Sweeney Todd, A Chorus Line, Spring Awakening, CATS and Lend Me A Tenor.
