In honor of the mid-term elections, Laughing Liberally -- the comedy event of Laughter from the Left -- is extending its run Off-Broadway run for five more weeks from October 30th to November 27th.
Laughing Liberally performed its sold out run from July 31st – August 28th, following its electric launch at Town Hall and a spring tour to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Boston. Setting out to 'save democracy one laugh at a time,' the evening of stand-up, video and music will return to the 45th Street Theatre off Broadway.
"Howard Dean and Harry Reid have laughed with us and right wing commentators attacked us. At least no one falls asleep," explained Laughing Liberally Co-Creator and Creative Director Justin Krebs. "What more appropriate way to celebrate this election than with laughter?"
Laughing Liberally features comics from Comedy Central, MTV, HBO, Air America and The Arab-American Comedy Festival. Included in the roster are Jim David (Comedy Central Presents), Julie Goldman (VH-1 & HBO's "Sopranos"), Dean Obeidallah Air America Radio), Bill Santiago (Comedy Central), Lee Camp (E!), Negin Farsad (Sirius Radio), Katie Halper (Yearly Kos), Benari Poulten (U.S. Army), Harry Terjanian (MTV), Baratunde Thurston (Jimmy Tingle's), Mandy Donovan (Boston Comedy Club) and others. Original political music satire will be performed by Jamie Jackson.
Beginning November 6th, the Laughing Liberally Lab -- a workshop of new political comedy -- will follow each performance at 9:30. "Edgy, surprising material -- not yet ready (or appropriate) for primetime will be featured," according to notes. The Lab is free for all who attend the 8pm show.
Laughing Liberally will be produced by Eric Krebs in association with Cosmopolity.org, a liberal activist organization.
The show plays October 30 and each Monday at 8:00pm through November 27th. Tickets are $30 and $15 and may be purchased at 800-838-3006 or through http://www.laughingliberally.com. The 45th Street Theatre is located at 354 West 45th Street in New York City.
