Latin American Cultural Week Kicks Off Today at Merkin Concert Hall

For the 10th consecutive year, PAMAR (Pan American Musical Art Research, Inc.), founder/director Polly Ferman, presents LATIN AMERICAN CULTURAL WEEK, including dozens of music, theater, dance, film, visual arts, and educational events that show the richness of Latin American arts and artists, including both area and international artists. PAMAR reaches out to and serves people of all ages, backgrounds, and communities to spread an awareness of the culture of Latin America and the Latin American diaspora. Events run today, November 12, through November 22 in locations city-wide.

Latin American Cultural Week 2015 will get off to a rousing start with the official opening performance:

LATINCHANGOS, Argentinean folkloric music group, led by Horacio Martinez, giving a fresh slant on traditional music from Falu to Cuchi Leguizamo, and

BINELLI-FERMAN DUO with guest artist MARCELO BALSELLS, bandoneonist Daniel Binelli, native of Buenos Aires who toured the world with the orchestra of Astor Piazzolla and Uruguayan pianist Polly Ferman, specialist in South American music, joined by vocalist Marcelo Balsells, unite their talents to present Latin American musical forms including tango, milonga, and candombe.
