Comedy fans, rejoice: Asian American comedian Sheng Wang may have been cut from "Last Comic Standing," but his debut comedy album will be released today, September 11. Featuring full versions of jokes edited in the show and a bounty of other hits, his album "Cornucopias Are Actually Horrible Containers" was recorded at the Punch Line Comedy Club in San Francisco. Wang, a UC Berkeley graduate, considers The Punch Line a home base, since it was at this club that he "grew up" in his comedy career.

Starting out with the class of San Francisco comedians that includes Louis Katz, Jasper Redd and Brent Weinbach, Wang has been performing for over a decade. His numerous TV appearances include "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," "John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show," and his own Comedy Central special. A contender in this summer's "Last Comic Standing," Wang was a fan favorite who impressed the judges with his smartly crafted, upbeat material on topics including working out, dating life, and being the son of immigrants. Roseanne Barr deemed each of his jokes an "instant classic," while Keenan Ivory Wayans highlighted Wang's "intelligence and Southern swagger" as part of the comic's appeal. Norm Macdonald's first-round prediction that he would see Wang - whom Macdonald declared a "great writer" - compete in later rounds proved accurate, as Wang placed solidly in the Top Ten.

Wang was cut from the competition last week, but not advancing turned out to allow for other opportunities. Without the exclusivities required of the top five finalists, Wang was thrilled to pursue another career dream: He now writes for the ABC hit sitcom "Fresh off the Boat," about a Taiwanese American family in the '90s - a perfect match for Wang's own life experiences and comedic writing skills.

"Cornucopias Are Actually Horrible Containers" is the remedy for Last Comic Standing fans left wanting to hear more from Wang. Heralded comedian Jim Gaffigan has already touted the album as "great material from a great comedic mind."

Pre-orders are available now for "Cornucopias Are Actually Horrible Containers." The album, distributed by All Things Records, will be available for download on iTunes and Bandcamp on September 11, 2015.
