In the past year they have converted the families of New York to be fans of their quirky universe and highly infectious tunes. The message of the show is all about living your best life- or as they encourage their followers to "slurp the noodle of life!" and people are all for it. Lard Dog and his 6-piece Band of Shy invite you into their unique audio-visual world complete with catchy songs, interactive props, multi-media graphics, and a pretzel toss! It's unfiltered, absurdist humor that's high energy and true good clean fun that engrosses the audience, no matter what age.
From their 2015 15 show run at the 13th Street Repertory Theater through their 2016 shows at Joe's Pub and their recent fall performance at Symphony Space, the fans and press can't get enough. Described by one reviewer as a "Rocky Horror Picture show for kids" and another as "Pee Wee Herman meets the B52's", The New York Times 'Spare Times' said they have "a Devo sensibility", all on point and noble comparisons well earned by this truly imaginative group that goes to the beat of their own drummer... her name is Whoops Lady Wonga.
Darren Critz, Director of Performing Arts Programs at Symphony Space said Lard Dog is "truly one of the oddest and most compelling afternoons of unbridled silliness I may have ever experienced. If there's not a "children's cult classic" genre of family entertainment, there is now." And Mindy Thomas - Program Director, SiriusXM's Kids Place Live said "This show is a full-on sensory experience! Such a treat for the eyes and ears, with surprises popping from every direction. I was afraid to blink for fear I'd miss something!" More at houseoflard.com.
