Lance Bass, chef Cat Cora, and Green Day will sponsor a gay-friendly prom in response to a Mississippi teen being conned into attending a fake prom earlier this month, Advocate.com is reporting.

The event will take place in Mississippi on May 8th. The Mississippi Safe School Coalition will help organize the event that will be open to all Mississippi high schoolers. Bass will likely be in attendance for the event.

Advocate.com recently spoke with the teen, Constance McMillen, who was not invited to her school-wide prom. "They had two proms, and I was only invited to one of them," McMillen said. "The one that I went to had seven people there, and everyone went to the other one I wasn't invited to."
