Lafayette College in Easton, PA will host the creators of the Broadway-bound musical CALIGULA, beginning Wednesday, November 5 through November 17 for an on campus series of script development sessions. The director of CALIGULA, Christopher Presley and author/composer/lyricist, Eric Svejcar will open the process to Lafayette students so they will have an inside view into the development of a new musical, along with the participation of several New York actors including Euan Morton who is playing the title role. They will also be offering Master Classes during this two-week period.
CALIGULA, featuring an original rock score, tells the story of the infamous Roman Emperor. The musical, a finalist for the 2003
Richard Rodgers Award, was first presented in May 2004 as a concert at the Zipper Theatre in New York City. The show then played to sold out houses at the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and was voted Audience Favorite in their inaugural season. Subsequently, CALIGULA underwent further development at The Actors Studio Playwright/Directors Workshop.
Lafayette College is an undergraduate liberal arts institution and this collaboration has been made possible by Assistant Professor of Theatre, Dr. Mary Jo Lodge.
